International City: Five selected for Young Socceroos camp

Melbourne City FC will have five of its Championship-winning NYL side in the Young Socceroos training camp at the Australian Institute of Sport as the side prepares for the AFC U-19 Championship 2018 Qualifiers.

Goalkeeper James Delianov, midfielder Nathaniel Atkinson, midfielders Connor Metcalfe and Denis Genreau as well as forward Gerrie Sylaidos have been named in Young Socceroos Head Coach Ufuk Talay’s squad to travel to Canberra.

“The squad comprises of players born in 1999, most of whom have been playing in the recently completed National Youth League season,” said Talay.

“The aim of the camp is to have a look at these players in our environment, get them to understand the philosophies of the national teams and the way we want to play, and moving forward beginning to prepare for the AFC U-19 Championship 2018 Qualifiers in October.”

The five selected players makes City the highest represented club in the 24-man squad.
