City youngster Ramy Najjarine found the back of the net in the Young Socceroos’ 3-0 win over Hong Kong in their 2018 AFC U19 Championship qualifier in Vietnam on Saturday.

The forward featured in the starting side alongside Daniel Arzani and Denis Genreau as his 11th minute strike opened the scoring in Hanoi.

Ufuk Talay’s side added two more after the break – one from which Arzani won the penalty – as they cruised through the opening match of the group.

Talay was pleased with the performance as they look to make the final stages.

“It was a good start to our AFC qualifiers against a team which made it difficult to break them down by sitting deep with their whole team behind the ball,” Talay said after the match.

“Pleasingly we had total dominance of possession in the opponent’s half, and were able to get the goals to secure a very important three points.

“I am happy with the performance of the players and we now look forward to the challenge of playing DPR Korea,” concluded Talay.

If the Young Socceroos defeat DPR Korea on Wednesday, the side will qualify for the 2018 AFC U19 Championship in Indonesia.
