Melbourne City will have six representatives in the Australian Under 16 camp in Sydney this month as they prepare for September’s 2018 AFC U16 Championships in Malaysia.
Jordan Bos, Luke Duzel, Joshua Rachele, Ahmad Taleb, Nicholas Theodosiou and Joshua Varga will all be competing for spots ahead of the major tournament, impressing selectors with their form in the NPL Victoria competitions at Senior, U20 and U18 levels.
Melbourne City will have the most representatives in the 28-man squad, with Sydney FC having four players selected
New Joeys boss Trevor Morgan says he’s looking forward to taking the reigns of an exciting group ahead of the tournament.
“I am excited by the opportunity and honoured by the responsibility that goes with this role,” Morgan said regarding his appointment to the Joeys post. “The work will be about unearthing and nurturing talent to build quality and depth in our junior National Teams.”
“We will go to Malaysia with a purpose, to progress to the 2019 FIFA U17 World Cup. As a team we want to face the challenge head on, playing our football against the best teams from around the globe, and we can only do this by making it to Peru.”
