Melbourne City FC captain Scott Jamieson has returned to Melbourne to be with his partner for the birth of their first child.

Jamieson left the camp on Saturday, immediately after the Club’s 2-0 triumph over Sydney FC at ANZ Stadium to depart for Melbourne soon after.

The full-back said the decision was a tough one for him but one that was important for him and his family.

“We’ve been through so much over the past couple of weeks as a team and everyone from players and staff have made sacrifices,” he said.

“It’s a big decision to leave the squad, but family comes first and I’m looking forward to being there to welcome our first child into the world.

“When the time is right, I’ll assess the health of my partner and baby and hopefully be able to return with the squad.”

Jamieson’s return to the squad will see him serve a mandatory quarantine period before heading back into the hub in the Hunter Valley.
