Key Battle: McCormack v Bobo

Thumbnail

Friday night will see the top-of-the-table clash between City and Sydney at AAMI Park and with both sides defence proving almost impenetrable, it may take one moment of brilliance from these men to decide the contest.

Coming from very different backgrounds across the globe, Ross McCormack and Bobo have found themselves down under, with one striker already proving himself in the A-League last season while the other has taken it by storm in the past fortnight.

We can only compare them though with their numbers this season and both strikers are on a even pegging.

The Brazilian just edges out the Scot for goals this season, with the Sydney FC man on four goals while McCormack has picked up three. With that in mind, two of Bobo’s goals have been penalties which gives him a slight edge over his City counterpart.

McCormack though has showed how important he has been in City’s link-up play as a target man up front, with four successful dribbles and three key passes in the final third. Bobo’s physical presence is what makes him more of a nuisance for opposition defences, conceding seven fouls and winning nine, making him one of the most fouled players in the league.

Defence has been a focal point for both sides this season and it may be only one opportunity that decides this contest.

With two lethal strikers on both sides of the park, it’s going to be a ripping contest to see who comes out on top on Friday night.
