Melbourne City FC captain Patrick Kisnorbo has urged his chargers to focus on the task at hand this week after Saturday’s Derby loss.

The captain recognised his side were not up to par against their foes at Etihad Stadium but has said that his side can’t dwell on the result with the run to the Hyundai A-League finals heating up.

“It was just one of those games that we have to get over quickly because we have to focus on this week,” Kisnorbo said.

“Obviously things didn’t go to plan, that happens some times in sport and we just have to regroup and look forward to this week’s game,

“Last week has gone and we just have to focus on this week.”

The side travel to Wellington to not only redeem themselves from last week’s performance but also their last trip to the land of the long white cloud and Kisnorbo stated that his side were out to prove themselves to the league.

“They’re a tough team, they’re in the top six for good reason and it’s going to be a tough task over there but hopefully we can show our quality and get the result we want.” Kisnorbo said.

“The main thing is it is about us and what we do as a team and how we prepare and hopefully we can go over there with confidence and get the result we want.”

Melbourne City FC travel to Wellington on Friday in preparation for Saturday’s match and will face the Phoenix at the less familiar Hutt Recreational Ground with Westpac Stadium out of action for the Cricket World Cup. Kick-off 3pm Melbourne (AEDT) 5pm Local on Fox Sports 4 (Ch 505) from 2:30pm.
