Melbourne City FC attacker Kyah Simon has backed her team to make a third consecutive Westfield W-League Grand Final ahead of their Semi Final against Brisbane Roar at Perry Park this Sunday.

Simon joined Brisbane Roar’s Tameka Butt, Sydney FC’s Chloe Logarzo and Newcastle’s Katie Stengel atop of Mount Coot-tha in Brisbane on Monday to launch the 2017-18 W-League Finals Series.

City booked their place in the top-four following a 3-0 win over Newcastle Jets at McDonald Jones Stadium on Saturday, securing fourth position on the ladder.

Patrick Kisnorbo’s side will face this season’s Premiers Brisbane Roar as they look to keep their hopes of a third consecutive Championship alive.

Ahead of the match, Simon says she’s expecting a tough contest against this season’s most consistent team but believes her side is more than capable of continuing their success.

“City’s had a great track record in the last couple of years and it’s a privilege for me to be part of such a successful club,” Simon said.

“I’m hoping I can contribute to us winning the championship three years in a row, but Brisbane are a top side and no matter who you face in finals football, it’s going to be a competitive match,” she added.

“We’ve got two obstacles to overcome — Brisbane this weekend and then the grand final the week after.

“We’re not getting too far ahead of ourselves but we’re going in full of confidence.”

Reflecting on her previous success in the league, Simon says there’s no better reward for effort than achieving the ultimate success.

“Every time I play in the W-League I’m playing to hopefully hold up that trophy at the end of the season,” Simon said.

“Not many players get to experience that – I have previously with Sydney FC and there’s no better feeling than reaping the benefits from all your hard work and dedication and commitment, from every player in the squad and the Club as well.”

City face 2017/18 Premiers Brisbane Roar at Perry Park for a place in the Grand Final on Sunday, kick-off 4:00pm (AEDT).
