The two sides have previously met in Morwell during last year-s Westpac Community Football Festival, with Newcastle prevailing 2-0 on a sodden pitch at the Latrobe City Sports and Entertainment Stadium.
However, the match was anything but a precursor to the side-s encounters during the regular season as the teams split their three results – a win apiece and a draw – to highlight the even nature of the competition.
