Whether he’s unlocking defences in the Hyundai A-League or plying his trade in English football, it is no surprise to see midfield maestro Aaron Mooy in the headlines.

Mooy made the perfect start to life at Huddersfield Town, propelling his new side to a 2-1 win over Brentford with a man-of-the-match performance on the opening weekend of the Sky Bet Championship.

The former Melbourne City midfielder was the lynchpin of The Terriers’ midfield, dictating play in the centre of the park with a game high 75 passes; four of which led to key goal-scoring chances.

Having made an impact during the club’s pre-season campaign – including a notable 45 minute cameo against Liverpool – Mooy has earned widespread praise for his impressive introduction to English football.

“On-loan Manchester City player Aaron Mooy quietly controlled the game in the middle of the park as well as regularly displaying his impressive pin-point passing artillery,” Huddersfield Daily Examiner football writer Blake Welton said.

“The Australian wasn’t just all craft but also hard-work and guile and any fears Town would not see out the final moments of the game dissipated as he expertly took charge of possession.”

Mooy has quickly established himself as a favourite amongst the Huddersfield faithful, with many fans expressing their admiration for the Socceroos midfielder’s performance on Twitter.

Huddersfield Town currently sit in fourth position on the Sky Bet Championship table and face a difficult away trip to league favourites Newcastle United on August 14.
