Melbourne City FC is set to face sister club Manchester City FC at CBus Super Stadium on the Gold Coast on Saturday 18 July.

The announcement coincides with Manchester City FC revealing today that they will base themselves out of the Gold Coast for 11 days, preparing for their 2015/16 domestic and European campaigns before heading to Melbourne to take on Real Madrid and AS Roma in the International Champions Cup presented by Audi.

During their stay in the Gold Coast, Manchester City stars, including leading international footballers Vincent Kompany, Joe Hart, David Silva and Yaya Toure will face their Melbourne City FC counterparts including international marquee Robert Koren, captain Patrick Kisnorbo and player of the year Aaron Mooy in a match to be played at CBus Super Stadium on Saturday 18 July, 2015, kick-off 5pm.

Melbourne City FC CEO Scott Munn said that the clash between the sides will be an exciting moment for the Club and football in Australia.

“We couldn’t be more pleased to be welcoming our sister club Manchester City FC to Australia and indeed to be playing against them in a historic game at CBus Super Stadium,” Munn said.

“As an A-League Club well acquainted with the area having played here several times, we know that the facilities on offer in the Gold Coast are second to none and this opportunity is a fantastic way for both teams to get ready for our respective seasons ahead.”

City of Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate echoed the excitement surrounding the fixture.

“We are thrilled that a Premier League club has chosen our city as the first stop on its tour of Australia,” Cr. Tate said.

“The visit demonstrates our city’s capability for hosting high performance sport which will continue to improve as we prepare to host the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games™. The Gold Coast offers the perfect training environment – the quality of our sporting facilities, sports-focused accommodation, our warm weather and beautiful beaches all make it world-class.”

Tickets for the match between the sister clubs go on sale to the public on Friday 26 June at 11am and are priced from $25 for adults and $10 for concession. Visit www.ticketek.com.au to purchase your tickets for the match.
