Now that the 2018-19 season is behind us, it’s time to focus on what’s happening next year.  We’ve celebrated the career of one of the A-League greats in Eugene Galekovic but it’s the long list of retained players that gets us excited.

With 15 players already contracted for the 2019-20 season and the remainder still in discussions, the Club is developing a stable roster ahead of its next tilt at the A-League title.

The list of retained players so far includes towering defender, Harrison Delbridge who enjoyed a break out season in 2018-19, finishing the campaign as a true fans favourite. There’s also Socceroos striker, Jamie Maclaren who started life at City in red hot form bagging five goals in his first four games, and Captain Scott Jamieson who inspired as leader for what was a rollercoaster season.

Full list of contracted players for 2019-20 (and beyond):

Mark Birighitti, Scott Jamieson, Harrison Delbridge, Nathaniel Atkinson, Rostyn Griffiths, Kearyn Baccus, Lachie Wales, Florin Berenguer, Jamie Maclaren, Moudi Najjar, Connor Metcalfe, Ramy Najjarine, Gianluca Iannucci, and returning from loan, Dean Bouzanis and Denis Genreau.

With a large number of players confirmed, City’s focus over the coming weeks will be to resolve the remaining player movements and identify new targets with attacking players a key target.

The Club is also working to appoint a new head coach to help it take the next step in its development and realise its ambitions of leagues success and Asian Champions League football.

Stay tuned for more over the coming weeks.
