Melbourne City FC can today announce the re-signing of winger Tyla-Jay Vlajnic ahead of the upcoming Westfield W-League season.

Vlajnic has been with City since the 2015/16 season and has made 29 appearances and scored one goal in her time at the Club.

She has been part of an extremely successful era at City, playing a role in two premierships and four championships; including last season’s historic double where she made seven appearances.

In October Vlajnic won her first cap for Serbia, playing the full ninety minutes at left-wing in a 4-1 win against Kazakhstan in the UEFA Women’s EURO Qualifiers.

Melbourne City FC Director of Football Michael Petrillo said:

“TJ has been an important part of our Championship winning squads over the years and it’s great to have her back again this season.

“Tyla is a versatile player who understands our playing style well – she is quick, technically very good, and very experienced.

“What TJ will also bring are the values and culture of this team which have been fundamental to our enormous success and be able to pass that on to the new players in the group.”

Tyla-Jay Vlajnic said:

“I hope to be a positive role model for the young and new players joining City this season and to instil in them all of the qualities that City stand for.

“I have been extremely fortunate to be surrounded by incredible world class players during my time at City from whom I have learnt an immeasurable amount, making me both a better footballer and a better human.

“On a personal level, I hope I can take what my previous teammates and friends have taught me and share it with this seasons group of girls, enriching their City experience.

“On a professional level, while the names on the back of the shirts may have changed, our goal at City is always the same – success.”
