Melbourne City FC can announce it has captured the signature of Perth Glory defender Jack Clisby during the Hyundai A-League transfer window.

Clisby, 22, joins Melbourne City FC after 29 matches for the West Australian side and is the Club’s first signing in 2015.

Clisby signs with the Club for the remainder of the Hyundai A-League 2014/15 season and for the 2015/16 season.

A versatile defender, Clisby can play either as a left-back or central defender and will help to strengthen Melbourne City FC’s squad heading into the second half of the 2014/15 campaign.

Melbourne City FC recommences its Hyundai A-League campaign on Sunday 1 February against Western Sydney Wanderers and Clisby will be available for the match at AAMI Park.

Head Coach John van’t Schip said Clisby would add depth to his squad for the second half of the A-League season.

“As a young talented defender, Jack has been on our radar for some time and we are happy to welcome him to Melbourne and expect him to be an important contributor to the team,” van’t Schip said.

“Jack comes to us at a time where we require depth as we embark on a busy fixture schedule in February and for the remainder of the season.”

Melbourne City play five matches in February; four in Melbourne (Western Sydney, Melbourne Victory, Perth Glory and Adelaide United) and a trip to New Zealand to face Wellington Phoenix.
