Melbourne City FC signs midfielder Leah Davidson

Davidson signing

Melbourne City FC can today announce the signing of 19-year-old midfielder Leah Davidson.

Davidson joins City off the back of spending the last two seasons with Brisbane Roar where she made 11 appearances.

She will bolster City’s midfield stocks and showed she can also find the back of the net when she scored her debut Westfield W-League goal last season against the Wanderers.

Melbourne City FC Director of Football Michael Petrillo said:

“Leah possesses a good understanding and application of combination play through the midfield zone and we are excited to have her as part of our squad.

“Her positioning on the field is very intelligent and she provides good link up play with the forward line with her penetrating passes and runs.”

Leah Davidson said:

“I am looking forward to a new experience at City, this is an exciting opportunity for me to challenge and push myself whilst playing amongst some amazing players with great facilities and a great coaching staff.

“Leaving Brisbane was definitely not an easy choice; I have played there from the age of 12 in the Roar Youth side which led to the beginning of my professional career which was a dream.

“This upcoming season I want to challenge myself, try to get as much game time as possible, work hard to be the best player I can be, and of course play my role for the team.”
