It’s been a historic season for our W-League side and in conjunction with Manchester Women’s FC and CityTV, the girls took part in a first for football coverage.

Joe Montemurro’s side recently faced Manchester City in a pre-season friendly in Abu Dhabi and the CityTV’s cameras enjoyed access all areas to ensure supporters got closer to the game than ever before.

Streamed live on melbournecityfc.com.au and mcfc.co.uk, the innovative matchday coverage delivered an immersive highlights package.

Fans had the opportunity to find out what goes on moments before kick off, as CityTV were granted access to the inner sanctum of the dressing room to see Montemurro deliver his final pre-match instructions.

The inventive coverage continued during the game, with Melbourne City midfielder Amy Jackson fitted with a microphone throughout.

Finally, fans were given the opportunity to see the game from the point of view of the officials, as the match referee was fitted with a GoPro camera to show what the game looks like when you’re a part of it at pitch level.
