Melbourne Heart FC Keeper Bolton Excited By Challenge

Melbourne Heart FC inaugural glovesman Clint Bolton has revealed his excitement at the prospect of joining the Hyundai A-League newcomers and helping to build a competitive outfit next season.

Melbourne Heart FC inaugural glovesman Clint Bolton has revealed his excitement at the prospect of joining the Hyundai A-League newcomers and helping to build a competitive outfit next season.

A hero of Sydney FC-s Championship triumph, Bolton confirmed his status as one of the nation-s premier goalkeepers with a stellar display during Saturday night-s Grand Final at Etihad Stadium.

Bolton proved to be near impenetrable in an assured performance, drawing upon almost two decades of experience to help keep his rivals at bay, making a last ditch save deep in normal time to ensure the contest progressed to extra time.

The 34-year-old again underlined his value as the decider entered a penalty shootout, making the decisive save to help clinch his second Hyundai A-League winners- medal.

But while his teammates celebrate their victory, Bolton-s attention has already turned to his next challenge, and he is set to arrive in Melbourne in a fortnight to commence pre-season training as Heart looks to lay the foundations of a competitive first season.

“My future is in Melbourne and I-m very happy and very excited by the prospect of the Melbourne Heart coming into the competition and I can-t wait for the buzz,” he said.

“I remember the first year at Sydney, the buzz around the new team, the new club was just fantastic and I-m expecting the same thing down in Melbourne.”

Bolton is confident Heart is well on track to make an immediate impact, citing the seven players signed to date in addition to the football pedigree of the club-s coaching panel of Head Coach John van ‘t Schip and Assistants Ante Milicic and Jesper Olsen.

“Just look at the coaching staff, look at the players’ roster they have got so far. I am very confident, they are recruiting well,” he said to Fairfax Media.

“I know Ante and Jesper are certainly pros, I have had dealings with them before. They will put on good training sessions and play a certain style that is exciting and a winning formula.”
