Message From The CEO – Fixture, Announcements And More!

Melbourne Heart FC CEO Scott Munn on the fixture announcement, upcoming announcements and an update on Head Coach John van ‘t Schip’s European scouting tour.

With the announcement of the Hyundai A-League 2011/12 fixture, the countdown to next season is now officially underway.

Featuring 13 home matches and a neutral regional round, the new fixture has ensured the Hyundai A-League draw will be equitable among all Clubs, while a reduction in the number of midweek fixtures is a victory for supporters everywhere.

The scheduled series of regional matches is another wonderful initiative which much like our Westpac Community Football Festivals will enable us to spread the word of football by bringing the Hyundai A-League to new frontiers.

Commencing in October, the upcoming campaign will allow the Hyundai A-League to secure its place as the pre-eminent national sporting competition during the Summer period.

For our Club, a major feature of the draw announcement was the revelation that we will be hosting the Melbourne Derby twice – December 23 and February 4 – in a massive boon for all supporters of the Red and White.

This ensures all Heart members will receive guaranteed access to the highly anticipated match-ups at AAMI Park, which were an undoubted highlight of last season.

Additionally, 10 of our 13 home matches are set to be played during family friendly weekend timeslots, while we will also host Adelaide United on January 4 during Football Federation Australia-s innovative football marathon, an all-day celebration of the Hyundai A-League.

Exciting Announcements Ahead

The month of June promises much for our Club and is certain to be a key turning point in both the short and long term future, with a series of exciting announcements set to be made.

2011/12 Membership Packages will be on sale in the coming weeks while we are also set to confirm an innovative fan engagement initiative featuring Melbourne Heart FC-s new apparel sponsor.

Squad Update

With Head Coach John van ‘t Schip and Assistant Ante Milicic currently overseas, our Football Department is feverishly at work identifying potential recruits for the new season.

And we are delighted to confirm that our search for fresh talent is set to yield significant dividends, with the Club closing on two crucial recruiting targets.

We feel the additions will provide our supporter base with much reason for optimism in 2011/12 as we seek to take the next step and claim a place in the Hyundai A-League Finals Series.
