Melbourne City FC can confirm Joe Montemurro has been appointed as Manager of Arsenal Women FC.

Montemurro will join the FA Women’s Super League side in England, effective immediately.

A pivotal figure in the establishment of Melbourne City FC Women’s team, Montemurro secured an unbeaten Championship-Premiership double in his inaugural 2015/16 season.

The 48-year-old also helped to guide City to record back-to-back titles in the Westfield W-League – the first Club to do so in the competition’s history – in his second season.

Montemurro’s move to Arsenal Women FC comes after the coach progressed through Melbourne City’s youth academy system, W-League team and most recently the Club’s Hyundai A-League team as an Assistant Coach.

Commenting on his time at Melbourne City Montemurro said;

“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the players and the staff at Melbourne City for the incredible opportunities and the memories. The Club has always been supportive and allowed me to develop and grow both professionally and personally.”
