Melbourne City FC marquee man Aaron Mooy has been selected in Ange Postecoglou’s 23-man squad to face Bangladesh and Tajikistan in the next stage of World Cup Qualifying for Russia 2018.
Mooy receives his third call up to the Socceroos while playing for Melbourne City, with his last coming in March’s friendlies with FYR Macedonia and World Champions Germany.
Postecoglou named his side on Wednesday morning with Mooy being one of three Hyundai A-League players making the squad.
“We started the World Cup qualification process with a win against Kyrgyzstan in tough conditions and now we have to continue that in front of our own fans in Perth and then on another tricky away trip to Dushanbe.” Postecoglou said.
“The players we have brought into the squad have all started their respective seasons with some good performances and will get an opportunity to impress while they are in good form and fitness,”
Australia has never played Bangladesh or Tajikistan at full international level.
The Socceroos matches against Bangladesh and Tajikistan will be broadcast exclusively LIVE on FOX SPORTS 4 (channel 505) and on a one hour delay on SBS.
