Mooy: We’re going for the win, nothing else

City marquee man Aaron Mooy feels his side must win their final two matches of the regular season if they are to win the Premier’s Plate.

With City on top of the league with superior goal difference and only two points separating 1st to 4th, the midfield maestro believes that with the power in his side’s hands, two wins in the final two matches of the season will put all possibilities beyond doubt.

“That’s the plan, to win the remaining games. We need to win all of them if we want to win the Premiership or the Grand Final,” Mooy said.

“It’s a positive to have a good goal difference. It’s pretty much like another point and it’s good but we still have to pick up the other points to be on top.

“I can guarantee we’ll go for the win. I feel like we need to win both games if we want to finish top so that’s what we’re going to go for.”

After another successful stint for the Socceroos this week, Mooy and defender Alex Wilkinson return to the side to take on Perth and watching last week’s match from camp in Sydney, the midfielder watched with pleasure on Monday night, albeit, missing the first half.

“It makes me very happy when I see the team winning so that’s what we needed,” he said.

“We need to win all of our games from now on if we want to get silverware so thats the aim. I watched the second half because we had dinner and we played really well and it’s good to get back.

“Every player takes confidence if they are playing well with their club team. It’s good to go into camp feeling confident and happy.

“My focus is this week. We’ll just try and prepare the best as we can and do everything the coach wants us to do and play to the best of our ability.

“I think we’re confident we’ll get the win. Maybe we haven’t done it on previous occasions but it’s a good challenge.

City take on Perth this Sunday night at nib Stadium, kick-off 7pm AEDT. Our final home match of the season is next Friday night as we face Adelaide United on Friday night, kick-off 7:40pm.
