Former Melbourne City midfielder Aaron Mooy and Melbourne City W-League goalkeeper Lydia Williams were awarded the Men’s and Women’s Footballer of the Year Awards at the Professional Footballers Australia (PFA) Awards Night on Tuesday.

The duo’s stellar year has seen the Socceroos and Matildas stars achieve important career milestones throughout 2016. Mooy cemented his spot in the national side, making the move to Manchester City via English Championship side Huddersfield while Williams competed at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games and has had a stellar start to the 2016/17 season with City.

Held at Crown Casino in Melbourne, the awards night recognised the achievements of Australian footballers abroad and all players domestically as Mooy and Williams were chosen by their peers.

The Club would like to congratulate Aaron and Lydia on their achievements over a special 2016!
