Melbourne Heart FC Chief Executive Officer Scott Munn says he is ecstatic at the success of the Club-s Hyundai A-League regional match in Morwell on Sunday.

The team travelled to Morwell in country Victoria for the third time but the first which was contested for A-League points.

“It was a great game. The pitch was in magnificent work and about 3,000 locals turned up and we took the three points away,” said Munn.

“It-s been an absolute pleasure to work with Latrobe City Council and they turned out a great pitch which was first and foremost what we needed.

“There-s a great Melbourne Heart community there and the crowd were all in their Red & White.

“It was great to see people like Fox Sports own Andy Harper who played there in his younger years calling the game and Mike Cockerill, Michael Lynch, Dave Davutovic – all the people who have been covering football for 15-20 years back there working.

“It was really a great environment and I think we want to foster that and really engage with the community we have in the football world. It was just a great day and we really enjoyed it.”

Mate Dugandzic gave Heart the lead on 41 minutes and it proved to be the winning goal, despite some late pressure by Wellington for an equaliser.

“They were probably the matches last year that we weren-t able to win, so winning ugly or winning dirty at the end there was a pretty good result for us,” said Munn.

“Last year when we were in that position we tended to concede or not go away with what we wanted.
“We-re really happy and results have gone our way on the weekend and we-re looking forward to Brisbane Roar this week.”
