Melbourne City FC’s NPL Seniors and U20s side will be looking to make it three wins from three to open the season when they take on FC Bulleen Lions at the Veneto Club on Monday night.

Led by Head Coach, Joe Palatsides, City’s NPL Seniors extended their unbeaten run in Round 2, defeating Murray United 6-2 at La Trobe University.

City attacker Connor Metcalfe opened the scoring in the ninth minute, before the visitors hit back straight from the restart to make it 1-1. On the stroke of half time City restored their lead as Moudi Najjar fired home a brilliant low drive from the edge of the area.

In the 47th minute, Murray United again hit back, this time through their captain Ashely Dunn who scored from the rebound after Majak Mawith conceded an early free-kick. With the game on the line, City produced an emphatic final 20-minutes of play, as a brace to Ramy Najjarine, as well as goals to Dylan Pierias and Stefan Colakovski ensured a 6-2 win.

Sitting on top of the league standings after two rounds, City will be looking to keep top spot when they travel down the road to take on Bulleen on Monday night.

Bulleen are also undefeated after two rounds, with one win and one draw. In Round 1, they defeated Manningham United Blues FC 3-2 at the Veneto Club, before playing out an entertaining 3-3 draw with Eastern Lions SC last weekend. With six goals scored in their opening two fixtures, Bulleen has showcased their attacking prowess.

With two wins from two, also sitting on top of the league standings is Petr Kratky’s U20s.

After their 10-1 win over Langwarrin at Lawton Park Reserve in Round 1, the U20s continued their strong run of form with another impressive performance, defeating Murray United 6-0 at La Trobe University.

Kratky’s side will be looking to continue the momentum when they take on Bulleen Lions at the Veneto Club on Monday evening, kick-off 6:30pm, before the Seniors take on the Lions at the same venue, kick-off 8:30pm.
