NPL Preview: City v Eastern Lions

Thumbnail

Our NPL boys will look to reclaim top spot on Saturday as they take on Eastern Lions at CFA Academy Pitches.

Two consecutive losses for Joe Palatsides’ chargers have put City back in the pack at the summit of the NPL2 West ladder sitting third, two points behind North Geelong and Whittlesea Ranges in top spot.

Last week’s shock loss to Goulburn Valley Suns came as a surprise to many, with the match played at an alternate venue in tricky conditions.

City will look to bounce back against Eastern Lions this Saturday as the boys continue their push towards automatic promotion to the state’s top flight. The Burwood-based club sit 8th in NPL East but pulled off one of the shock results of the season last week, taking down North Geelong 4-2 at home.

With a handful of new signings and momentum from last week, the Lions will be a tricky opponent come Saturday, with the chance to prove a point to the rest of the league.

Cameron Neales is the man to watch for Eastern Lions. The striker has netted 10 times this season, with doubles against Werribee, Murray and most notably, last week against North Geelong.
