NPL Preview: City v Kingston City

After an unbeaten start to the season, City’s NPL side face another test on Saturday as they take on Kingston City at CFA Melbourne’s Academy Pitches.

The boys come into the clash from a NPL-wide FFA Cup break as they’ll look to pick up where they left off against a Kingston side who sit equal first in the East conference.

Joe Palatsides chargers looked to have drawn a difficult start to the season when the fixtures were first released however with three wins and one draw, with their most impressive coming against fellow promotion contenders Moreland Zebras, City will look to create a gap at the top of the table in the cross conference matchup on Saturday.

‘The Reds’ are four from four this season however survived a scare last week as they progress in the cup competition on penalties against State League One side Western Suburbs, one division below the league high-flyers.

Velibor Mitrovic is the danger man for Kingston, with the play-maker equal second on the NPL2 East goals tally with five goals in four matches.

After a spell in the Bosnian Premier League last year, Mitrovic returned to Australia last year to re-link with Kingston and push toward NPL promotion this season.
