NPL Preview: City v Moreland City

After 14 goals in two week, Melbourne City will look to continue its march up the NPL2 West ladder with three points against Moreland City this weekend.

City’s 7-2 win over Murray United made it two wins on the trot for Joe Palatsides’ side, moving them to fifth, only three points from a three-way tie for second place.

Two commanding performances indicates a change in form for City but they will have another test this weekend when they take on Moreland City. Although Moreland sit in seventh position, the northern suburbs side are a strong outfit that almost reached promotion last year with a late season run.

With a mix of young talent and experience, City’s fluctuating form this season has seen them fail to reach the heights of last season, but will take inspiration from last week’s convincing win over Nunawading.

With ten goals already this season, Apai Ukuno is Moreland’s biggest threat up front, with the striker establishing himself as one of the shining lights for his squad this season.

City take on Moreland City this Saturday at the CFA’s Academy Pitches. U20’s kick-off 12:45pm, Seniors kick-off 3pm.
