NPL Preview: Dandenong Thunder v City

Thumbnail

Our NPL boys face arguably the hardest test in NPL2 this weekend as they take on the undefeated Dandenong Thunder at George Andrews Reserve on Saturday night.

The leaders of their respective conferences go head-to-head this weekend with both sides looking to make their ambitions for promotion to the NPL’s top tier clear with a result.

Thunder have more of a buffer at the top of the table with a four point gap to second placed Kingston City while City sit atop a log-jam at the pointy end of the table with the chance to drop to fourth with a loss on Saturday.

The form of Joe Palatsides’ side has seen them bypass the leading pack, and after a mid-season slump, the side looks on track to make Saturday’s match one of the blockbuster clashes of the season.

Dandy couldn’t have had a better lead into the match with a 10-1 win over the lowly Nunawading. The man to watch all season for Thunder has been Brandon Barnes and the marksman netted an incredible eight times against Nunawading, making it 12 goals in his past three matches.
