NPL Preview: Sunshine George Cross v City

City’s NPL side will look to bridge the gap to the leading pack on Saturday as they take on Sunshine George Cross at Chaplin Reserve.

Joe Palatsides’ side come into the contest after defeating Moreland City last Saturday, with Yusuf Ahmed, Phil Petreski and Mehdi Sarwari finding the back of the net in the performance that saw the side move to within four points of ladder leaders North Geelong.

Three points should be the priority once again for City as they take on cellar dwellers Sunshine George Cross. The Georgies have struggled this season with their only win of the season coming against Bendigo City in Round 2.

With a five point deduction for an indesgression earlier in the season, their win and three draws sees them sit on two points, one point behind Werribee City in second last.

Another side that includes a promising mix of experienced and young players, Sunshine will look to turn a page after the halfway mark as they look to climb up the ladder.

The man to watch for the Georgies is forward Juso Julardzija, who is the club’s top scorer this season. The attacker has had experience at a range of different NPL sides including St Albans and North Geelong and is known for his ability in front of goal.

City take on Sunshine George Cross this Saturday at Chaplin Reserve in Sunshine. U20’s kick-off 1pm, Senior kick-off 3pm.
