Player of the Year: Good crowned City’s best

CG

Following a standout season in the heart of defence, Curtis Good has taken out the top honour at the Club’s 2021 Player of the Year awards night.

Good was one of the best – if not the best – central defender in the A-League this season and was a massive reason for the Club’s Premiership triumph.

His injury troubles of past years are now well and truly behind him with Good a picture of consistency across the season for City. He started each of the Club’s first 24 fixtures, playing the full 90 minutes in all but the two matches the squad was rotated due to packed parts of the schedule.

Good’s outstanding Club form was also recognised with his first Socceroos call-up since 2014.

Star striker Jamie Maclaren was awarded the Etihad Airways Members’ Player of the Season and of course took out the Club’s Golden Boot.

After earlier this month re-committing to the Club until 2024, there’s no surprise to see City fans show their love for their favourite number nine who has now scored 50 goals over the last two campaigns.

Marco Tilio was awarded the Club’s Rising Star award after an outstanding second half of the season and pair of Finals performances. Although it took Tilio some time to break into the starting XI after joining City, he’s certainly made a name for himself now.

He scored twice and added a further five assists over the season from his 21 appearances – with more than half of them coming via the bench early on in the season.

Rounding out the night and in absolutely no surprise to anybody, inspirational leader Scott Jamieson was named Clubman of the Year.

Having led from the front throughout not just this season but his time at the Club as a whole, Jamieson continued to raise the bar in 2020/21. He was a key driver behind City’s ‘anyone, anywhere, anytime’ motto and has led the boys exceptionally all season.

In the Club awards, Pedj Radinovic took out the football departments Employee of the Year, while Nikki Drost took out the administration Employee of the Year. Wyntyn Parker and Kristoff Kwiatkowski were named dual winners of the Club’s Volunteer of the Year.

A big congratulations to all winners and those who were recognised at the Player of the Year night!
