Player of the Year: Jamie Maclaren takes out top accolades

Melbourne City FC has named its Player of the Year following a history making season for the Club. 

On a night where City celebrated the Club’s achievements, acknowledging the staff, Youth, Women’s and Men’s teams, the 2020 Player of the Year was crowned. 

Jamie Maclaren was crowned the Melbourne City FC Player of the Year after a brilliant season which saw the star number 9 net 23 goals in 25 games under Head Coach Erick Mombaerts. 

Maclaren’s standout campaign saw him take out the Club’s Golden Boot as well as the fan voted Etihad Supporters’ Player of the Year. 

City skipper Scott Jamieson was recognised for his tremendous contribution throughout the 2019/20 campaign, taking out the 2020 Clubman of the Year award. 

Rising stars Connor Metcalfe and Raphael Borges Rodrigues were also rewarded for strong seasons in City blue. Metcalfe was named the Dreamstreet Lending Rising Star after another impressive season at the senior level.

While Borges Rodrigues claimed the Y-League Player of the Year award following a strong season in the Youth League, where he went on to later make his A-League debut for City following the season restart.

City recognised the tremendous achievements of the Club’s W-League side, who created history earlier in the year when they became the first team in the competition to win four championship titles. 

Head Coach Rado Vidosic’s side sealed an invincible season with the premiership and championship double. City’s W-League awards were announced following the completion of their record breaking season. 

High-flying fullback Ellie Carpenter completed a stellar first season at the Club after she was awarded the 2020 Player of the Year award.

New Zealand international Rebekah Stott claimed the 2020 Players’ Player as voted by her peers following another tremendous season for the Club. 

The ultimate Club person, Melissa Barbieri was awarded the 2020 Coaches Award, while Emily van Egmond took out the Golden Boot with six goals in 12 games.
