Melbourne City’s 2018/19 A-League campaign gets underway on Thursday as the playing group returns to report for day one of pre-season.

The first of a 12-week period before October’s season opener, Warren Joyce’s side will get things underway at CFA Melbourne as they prepare for an intense schedule that will see them play their first Friendly match against Kerala Blasters in India on Tuesday 24 July.

Thursday will be the first session for a number of players and coaching staff at the Club as they get accustomed to their new home at CFA Melbourne.

Riley McGree and Lachlan Wales will be looking to hit the ground running as they meet their team mates on the pitch for the first time. Thursday will be more of a homecoming for Anthony Caceres, who returns to the Club after going on loan to Al Wasl in the UAE. Caceres will have a number of familiar faces to work with alongside the additions from the 2017/18 season.

Scottish signing Michael O’Halloran is set to join the side in the coming weeks while Daniel Arzani will have an extended break after returning home from the 2018 FIFA World Cup with the Socceroos.

Goalkeeper Coach Zeljko Kalac also begins work with the ‘keepers, joining Warren Joyce, Tony Vidmar and Patrick Kisnorbo in the A-League coaching staff.

This period will also be an opportunity for our talented Academy stars to get a taste of the senior side with the likes of Josh Cavallo, Gianluca Iannucci, Dylan Pierias, Connor Metcalfe, Ramy Najjarine and Moudi Najjar joining the group along with a range of other youth prospects.
