The Clash

Melbourne City will be desperate to pick up all three points on Saturday night as they face Wellington Phoenix at AAMI Park.

Coming off a three week period without a win, Warren Joyce’s side hasn’t let the past results affect their preparations for the contest, with City having spells of dominance during their recent dry spell.

They’ll have the chance to bounce back against cellar dwellers Wellington Phoenix who themselves are on a six-match winless streak, seeing them prop up the A-League table.

Despite a 0-0 result last week, the Nix peppered the Central Coast goal in their Round 13 fixture with Mariners keeper Ben Kennedy having a man of the match performance.

With both sides desperate for a result and fresh blood in both ranks after the opening of the January transfer window, there is no doubt Saturday night will provide fireworks.

What was said
