Melbourne Heart FC midfielder Iain Ramsay is willing to treat old friends as enemies in Sunday-s crucial Hyundai A-League clash against his former club, Adelaide United.

The 25-year-old faces his former teammates for the first time in a competitive fixture since switching from the ‘Reds- to the Red and White during the off-season.

However, while Ramsay will treat his ‘mates- like any other opponent on Sunday, Melbourne-s number 7 will not be taking Josep Gombau-s side for granted when they clash on Sunday afternoon at AAMI Park.

“I-ve got mates in the team still but when it comes to game day obviously all of that changes,” Ramsay said.

“They have improved a lot; they are a good passing team. We-re going to press well and we know it-s going to be a competitive match and we are hoping to turn things around.”

Ramsay said the strength of the group had shone through during the week, with the side remaining positive on the training track.

“It hasn-t been the best start but when you have people that support you and everyone sticks together that-s when we can turn things around,” Ramsay said.

“There’s a lot of positives to take away from the matches we’ve played, there’s been a couple of games where we haven’t played as well as we should have. But we’re very positive.”

The midfielder pointed to the nature of the A-League, where teams can quickly turn their fortunes around.

“It-s still early in the season, you look back at a few teams that have won the last two or three games and three weeks ago people were already writing them off,” Ramsay said.

“There are a lot of teams that if they are under the pump they form groups here and there, but we are very much not like that; we are sticking together and we are very positive.

“For us once we get that two or three wins in a row we know that we can get right back up the ladder that-s the league that-s just how it is.”
