Goalkeeper Andrew Redmayne believes a higher volume and higher intensity pre-season has the men in Red and White itching to go for tonight’s Melbourne Derby.

With Melbourne Heart-s campaign set to kick off in the Melbourne Derby on Saturday night, Redmayne is confident that the playing group is ready for Round One.

“Where this preseason has differed from last is in the volume and intensity of training,” Redmayne told melbourneheartfc.com.au.

“We have been through such a higher volume of work while still maintaining our high standards.”

Redmayne said that there had been little disruption with the changes to the squad in the off-season, despite a number of new faces.

“At Melbourne we have a fantastic unity among the squad, and the players that have come in have not only added a lot in terms of quality on the pitch but also off-field as well,” Redmayne said.

“Every one of the new recruits have fitted in very quickly and seamlessly.”

While the off-season has been arduous, Redmayne reiterated that the players are ready for the season to commence.

“The current vibe in the playing group is itching and ready to go,” Redmayne said.

”It has been a long pre-season and we cannot wait to get out in front of our fantastic fans and get the season started.”
