At just 23 years of age, new Melbourne Heart FC goalkeeper Andrew Redmayne is a well-travelled man.

The young stopper joins the Club after stints with the Central Coast Mariners and Brisbane Roar FC, with his time in Brisbane seeing him become a two-time A-League Grand Final winner.

This success came off the back of a youth career which included appearances with the Australian national team at under-20 and under-23 levels, along with a three week period at English Premier League powerhouse Arsenal.

Redmayne believes it is this experience that has helped him feel at home at the Club so quickly.

“John Aloisi and I played together at the Mariners so we really get along and I-ve also played with a lot of the younger boys at representative level,” he said.

“Fitting in has been really easy. After the first week it felt like I-d been here for a year or two, everyone has been really nice and welcoming.”

Redmayne is looking forward to his time at the Heart, particularly with the calibre of goalkeeping experience around him.

“It is a fantastic training environment down here. I can work with Clint Bolton, Peter Zois and Joey Didulica,” he said.

“These are names that aren-t thrown around lightly in Australian football. Anyone would jump at the opportunity to learn from just one of these guys but I-m fortunate enough to have all three of them here and I-m going to relish the opportunity.”

Redmayne hopes the superb set-up here at the Club can help him achieve bigger and better things in his career but he isn-t going to get ahead of himself.

“Trying to get back overseas does drive me on but it-s not something I-ll rush into,” he said.

“I just want to start playing to be honest. Whether that is this year, next year or five years down the track when the opportunity comes I will jump on it.

“I-ll just take in as much as I can and take every day as it comes.”

And with Redmayne already loving life in Melbourne, everything is in place for the young ‘keeper to have a big career with the Melbourne Heart.
