RESULT: Melbourne City FC 1-1 Newcastle Jets

David Villa scored his second goal in as many games for Melbourne City FC on Sunday, netting the equaliser to earn a 1-1 draw with the Newcastle Jets.

It was only last Saturday night that David Villa was the man to score for Melbourne City FC in the second half and Villa was at it once again, scoring an 87′ minute equaliser.

John van’t Schip’s side had an array of chances to open the scoring in the first half but went into half-time level. Montano’s goal early in the second half sent shock-waves throughout the 15,717 crowd as Melbourne City FC pushed numbers forward for an equaliser.

Villa — who found the ball on the edge of the area through a brilliant exchange between Duff and Dugandzic — slotted home at Mark Birighitti’s near post to give Melbourne City FC a lifeline but it wasn’t to be as both sides left AAMI Park with a point.

Van’t Schip will look to prepare for next week’s Melbourne Derby with Melbourne Victory in what shapes up to be one of the biggest in Hyundai A-League’s history.
