Melbourne Heart FC midfielder Kristian Sarkies is itching to return to action after suffering a long lay off due to injury.

The two-time Socceroo suffered a serious injury in February this year which has kept him out of action for over 9 months.

Sarkies broke his fibula and tibia in his right leg in a tackle against Perth Glory, playing for Adelaide United-s youth team in a tune-up for Adelaide-s Asian Champions League game against Pohang Steelers.

He said he can-t wait to get back on the pitch and get his first start for the Heart.
“I-ve been out of the game for nine months now which have been very frustrating.” Sarkies said.

“Everyone keeps telling me to calm down and take my time to get back but I-m really excited and can-t wait to get back out there.”

“We are lucky enough to have a stadium like AAMI Park to play in week in week out so I can-t wait to play there.”

Sarkies also believes that the Heart has done well in their first season of the A-League and that they are looking stronger with every game that passes.

“At the start of the season we knew we were going to have a few ups and downs as we start to get used to playing with each other.” he said.

“But we have really gelled well and as the season goes on we should be getting stronger and stronger.”

Sarkies is scheduled to be back by the first week of December, but won-t be rushing into things claiming he wants to be fully fit before returning to action.

“I want to be 100% fit when I return so that I won-t be getting any other niggling injuries that would keep me out for longer.”
