Dutch import Gerald Sibon will join John Aloisi and Josip Skoko in farewelling Melbourne Heart FC during the Club-s Hyundai A-League match against Sydney FC on Saturday night.

Sibon, who turns 37 in April, was a significant contributor to Heart-s debut season, making 25 appearances, scoring seven goals and producing five assists, all the while entertaining fans with his unique mix of trickery, touch and power.

Head Coach John van ‘t Schip said Sibon-s presence has been of enormous benefit to the club.

“We were very happy with Gerald-s input and the important role he played in our first year as a start-up Club. His experience was invaluable in mentoring the younger players,” he said.

“Gerald-s vision, touch and ability to draw others into the game were fantastic and the Club has been pleased with his contribution. Throughout his time at Heart, he showed just why he was able to have such a successful career in Europe.”

Chief Executive Officer Scott Munn said the experience and professionalism of Sibon, Heart’s inaugural marquee player, was crucial in establishing a culture at the Club.

“Whilst everyone was able to see Gerald weave his magic on game day, his excellent contribution behind the scenes to the fostering and development of the emerging young members of our side is worthy of recognition,” he said.

“We would like to thank Gerald for his efforts and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”
