Signing wrap-up: Four W-League, one A-League signing confirmed

It’s been a busy last week or so at Melbourne City FC with a total of five signings announced as we get closer to the new W-League and A-League seasons!

The announcements kicked off last Thursday with the huge news that Rebekah Stott will be making her return to W-League football.

With her first appearance in the new season, Stott will become our outright W-League all-time appearance leader. From 2015-2020, she won four Championships and two Premierships with the Club and now makes her return after successfully battling Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

The good news continued to filter through on Tuesday morning with Emma Checker confirmed to return to the Club on a two-year deal.

The Matildas defender will again take the armband this season and will be ready for a big season after a stress fracture curtailed the start of her 2020/21 campaign.

Tuesday proved to be a big day with Jordon Hall announced as our second new signing ahead of the 2021/22 A-League season. The versatile 23-year-old is a product of the Club’s Academy and re-joined City after a strong last two seasons for Green Gully in the NPL.

Another new signing was confirmed early Wednesday morning, with Hannah Wilkinson coming on-board to join the Club and play in the W-League for the first time. The 29-year-old striker is a New Zealand international and recently made her 100th appearance for her country in the Tokyo Olympics.

Having netted 26 times for the White Ferns and with plenty of experience overseas, City fans will be excited to see what she can do in Melbourne.

The signing news for the week wrapped up with a great feel good story. After missing the whole of last season due to a torn anterior crucial ligament, Chelsea Blissett re-signed for three years. The 21-year-old defender has been cleared to return to training and is looking forward to making her return to the pitch soon.

Stotty, Emma, Jordon, Hannah and Chelsea have all committed to the Club for the new season – but have you? Head to citymembership.com.au to become a City Member now!
