It was a case of ‘straight to work’ for Melbourne City FC’s new signing Thomas Sorensen after the goalkeeper touched down in Melbourne on Tuesday morning.

Shaking off any signs of jetlag, the former Danish international had his first session with the Club on Tuesday and says he is ready to prove himself in the Hyundai A-League, and can’t wait to get started at his new Club.

“I’m delighted to be here, new chapter, new challenge and looking forward to it,” Sorensen said.

“It was a big change. I had to get the family on board but the more I heard about it, the set up, the ambitions, (it was) everything I was looking for.

“I’ve had a fantastic career in England and I’ve had some fantastic times at great clubs but this is a new club, a new challenge and sometimes you need new challenges to keep going and this is definitely something I’m really excited about.

“As I said, I am fit, I’m very serious about my sport and when you get to my age, you have to look after yourself.

“I haven’t had any major injuries so that’s why I’ve said all along, the day I feel is the day I need to stop, I’ll stop but I definitely feel ready to go and that’s why I’m taking this challenge.”

The ‘keeper completed his first session on Tuesday and felt that the CFA Melbourne was a perfect enviroment for what he want’s to achieve at the Club.

It’s a great facility, I dont think you can have any complaints,” Sorensen said.

“The pitches are in great condition and the facility is everything you can expect so from that point of view theres no excuses for me and the team. I think that we have everything that is needed to be successful.”
