Squad announced for Perth clash

Melbourne Heart FC head west to tackle Perth Glory at nib Stadium on Friday evening. Check out the squads ahead of the Round 14 Hyundai A-League clash.

Melbourne Heart FC Head Coach John van’t Schip has promised not to make sweeping changes to his squad; however, will travel with two new faces to face Perth Glory on Friday night.

With Stefan Mauk, who played a cameo off the bench in last week’s 0-0 draw with Central Coast Mariners at Bluetongue Stadium, and David Vrankovic away on international duty with the Young Socceroos, Dylan Macallister and Benjamin Garuccio have been injected into the side.

Macallister’s selection follows his steady progress after sustaining a hamstring injury in training earlier in the season, which has seen him sidelined and yet to feature in an Hyundai A-League match this season.

“He has been going well he played 90 minutes a week ago with the [Foxtel National Youth League] team and the week before that he played 60 minutes so he’s near to playing a role in the first team, that’s why he’s with the squad,” Melbourne Heart FC Head Coach John van’t Schip said.

“Dylan is ready to help us if we need him, and hopefully in the coming weeks he will continue to get stronger and better.”

Garuccio and Macallister are yet to play this season and may play some part in Friday night’s game.

Jeremy Walker has also been named in the preliminary 18-man squad, and the right-back has featured in three matches this season, in the absence of Jason Hoffman after the number 17 suffered a groin injury last year.
