Sunshine George Cross and Keilor Park take out City Cup 2016

Melbourne City hosted its annual City Cup tournament on September 23 and 28, with Sunshine George Cross and Keilor Park winning the respective Boys and Girls competitions.

Last week saw the second edition of the City Cup tournament held at the Club’s Academy Pitches, during a thrilling afternoon of football which produced a number of exciting contests.

Sunshine George Cross and Hume City battled it out for the trophy in a tense finale, which saw the former take home the trophy with a 2-0 win.

The Club hosted its first Girls City Cup tournament on Wednesday, with all sides exhibiting their talent during an exciting day of football.

Keilor Park had the honour of being crowned the inaugural winners of the Girls competition, claiming the trophy after an epic battle with St Albans at the Club’s Academy Pitches.

Each winning club will enjoy the grand prize of an ‘Ultimate Melbourne City FC match day experience’ at as a reward for their efforts, which includes:

  • A fully catered suite for 18 guests at AAMI Park
     
  • 20 additional GA tickets for the match,
     
  • The opportunity for 11 children to be match day player mascots,
     
  • A chance to play on AAMI Park at half-time.

Each registered player will receive entry to Melbourne City’s first three home matches with a 2016/17 Junior Three Match Pack.

The spirit of the City Cup was well and truly on display with all teams and players who participated to be commended on the high standard of football and sportsmanship displayed throughout the competition.
