Team News: Adelaide v City

The teams are in for Friday’s clash with Adelaide. See who’s in and who’s out of this week’s side.

After a convincing 3-0 win against Sydney last week, John van’t Schip’s side come into this week’s contest with an air of conficdence as they prepare themselves for one of the biggest tests in the league.

van’t Schip announced to the media on Thursday morning that Anthony Caceres would miss this week’s clash with a quad strain after he pulled out of Tuesday’s session complaining of tightness. With that news, Jason Trifiro enters the extended side with the Dutchman able to call upon a plethora of midfield options.

Northern Ireland international Aaron Hughes also returns to fray looking to bolster the defence that picked up its second clean sheet of the season last week against Sydney. Competition is hot in the City defence as well with Connor Chapman declared “fit and read” by van’t Schip earler in the week.

The rampant Reds enter this week’s contest coming off a 14-game unbeaten run that has seen them sky-rocket to the top of the Hyundai A-League.

Guillermo Amor’s side come off a commanding 4-0 away win against Wellington however they will be without Soceroos full-back Tarek Elrich. Elrich is set to miss four weeks through a groin injury and will be a hard hole to fill for Adelaide.

Isais also returns to the side with the experienced Spaniard looking to play a role on Friday night. See the match on SBS and Fox Sports tomorrow night, kick-off 7:40pm.
