After weeks of squad stability and positive selection dilemmas, Michael Valkanis has witnessed his fortune turn this week, naming a range of senior squad and youth team players for Saturday’s clash against Brisbane.
Five players will miss a week due to the accumulation of yellow cards, Tim Cahill will miss one week for a red card and goalkeeper Dean Bouzanis will miss five weeks after Wednesday’s Disciplinary and Ethics Committee hearing.
This has allowed Michael Valkanis to name a youthful squad that includes seven of the Foxtel National Youth League players that took out the NYL Championship only two weeks ago and will look to impress the senior coach ahead of an important run for the Club.
Senior regulars Josh Rose and Nick Fitzgerald have also been added to the extended side that will be cut down by two 90 minutes before kick-off.
Brisbane – who themselves returned from a gruelling battle against Shanhai Shenua in the Asian Champions League – will too be feeling the effects of the 10 hour round trip to China which may play into City’s hands on Saturday.
