Team News: City’s Round 1 Melbourne Derby squad

Our team is in for Saturday’s blockbuster season opener. See who’s in and who’s out of this week’s side.

It’s derby time in Melbourne as Melbourne City look to kick off another A-League season at Marvel Stadium against Victory.

The international break headlines our exclusions this week with Jamie Maclaren away with the Socceroos while Denis Genreau is in camp with the Olyroos. Despite the two exclusions, it’s a full-strength City squad with Erick Mombaerts’ side fit and firing across the board.

With the FFA board approving the extension of the bench to seven players, it’s a 20-man squad that has been selected for the Derby with young bolters Rapahel Borges Rodrigues and Stefan Colakovski added to the extended side as they look to fill one of the spots on the bench.

City face Victory in Melbourne Derby number 30 at Marvel Stadium, kick-off 7.30pm. Tickets via Ticketmaster.
