Team News: City’s Round 9 squad

The team is in for Saturday’s 2nd vs 3rd clash with Newcastle in the Hunter. See who’s in and who’s out of this week’s side to take on the Jets.

City Head Coach Warren Joyce will have to re-shuffle his deck once again this week with Osama Malik’s red card against Perth seeing the defensive midfielder miss a week due to suspension.

The number six was sent off under the new VAR system for a late challenge in the penalty area and despite the straight red, Malik’s offence was deemed to be only worth one week.

Ruon Tongyik returns to the frame, with the young defender in the mix to fill Malik’s role alongside Iacopo La Rocca and Neil Kilkenny.

Daniel Arzani has also been added to the extended squad for the first time this season as the talented attacker looks to establish himself in the first team. His impressive opening rounds in the Y-League has seen Joyce put him back in the mix for the clash against Newcastle.

Braedyn Crowley joins Arzani and Tongyik in the final 18 that will be cut by two 90 minutes before kick-off on Saturday.

Despite signing this week, Harrison Delbridge will not be available for selection until January 2018 once the transfer window re-opens.

City take on Newcastle this Saturday night at McDonald Jones Stadium, kick-off 7.50pm. We’re back at AAMI Park next Sunday for a massive Star Wars Round double header! The men take on the Central Coast while the women face Canberra. Use the force and get your tickets today!
