Melbourne City FC has named its squad for Easter Sunday’s blockbuster clash against Newcastle Jets, with the preliminary squad unchanged from last Thursday.
Osama Malik has not been able to recover from his quad complaint in time for the second versus third clash, although the midfielder has resumed more intense training this week. Long-term absentee Iacopo La Rocca remains sidelined due to a calf issue as he continues to work towards full fitness.
Captain Michael Jakobsen remains in the squad, having returned to training this week after a niggle saw him replaced during the 3-0 win over Western Sydney Wanderers last Saturday.
For the home side, former City defender Jason Hoffman will be missing due to suspension, joining Corey Brown (calf) and Nigel Boogaard (knee) on the unavailable list.
Despite having three defensive players out, the hosts are likely to have addition firepower in the forward line with Dimi Petratos returning from national duty with the Socceroos and Irish forward Roy O’Donovan returning from suspension.
