Van ‘t Schip Confident For Next Season

Head Coach John van ‘t Schip feels the Club can look forward to next season with confidence after the team completed its final week of training before heading on break.

The team has been in training since the conclusion of the Hyundai A-League in February, facing local opposition in a series of practice matches to maintain fitness and build on the efforts of last season.

Reflecting on Heart-s debut campaign, van ‘t Schip feels the team-s interrupted pre-season played a part in rollercoaster season, saying it was difficult to build momentum early on.

“It was a very interesting year, a year with ups and downs. Of course, setting up a club, you are going to have issues you will need to deal with,” he said.

“They were problems at the beginning which contributed to the slow start and learning the way of playing, but I think all the boys managed to do very well.”

However, after a series of strong performances over the final two months of the season, which featured only one loss in nine matches, van ‘t Schip is adamant the side is well placed for 2011/12.

“We were very competitive in almost all our games, except for maybe one or two. I think from there on, we can move forward with a lot of confidence heading into the second season.”
