Melbourne Heart FC Head Coach John van-t Schip has praised his team-s resolve after netting four wins from five consecutive matches away from AAMI Park.

“We didn-t have a game for 5 weeks in Melbourne. We had Gold Coast away, we had Central Coast away, Wellington in Morwell, last week Brisbane, and now Perth. It was a very tough schedule and I think we did great by getting that many points and winning,” van ‘t Schip.

From those five games, Melbourne Heart won four of them, losing only to league leaders Central Coast Mariners.

Faced with their longest away trip of the season, van-t Schip was extremely happy with the confidence boosting win.

“With the trip over here, the flight, and the time difference, I think all these circumstances are in (Glory-s) advantage, and then having a win here is great for the confidence of everybody at the club,” van-t Schip said.

He described the victory over Perth as a “beautiful ugly win”, saying that his team was now able to grind out a win when previously a game such as that would have resulted in a draw.

“As I said in the dressing room, I think it was a beautiful ugly win. Last year we had these type of games where we drew or lost, but now we are capable of winning these types of games and that is very important.”

Melbourne Heart now sit in third position on the ladder, and would be even higher if they had not been unlucky in the earlier part of the season.

“Taking into consideration the games we played at the beginning, maybe we should have had more points. But it means nothing now, the season is still young,” van-t Schip said.
