Melbourne Heart FC Head Coach John van-t Schip says he is happy to have re-signed at his “home away from home” after securing a contract extension that will keep him at the Club until the end of the 2016/17 A-League season.

Van-t Schip, a native of Holland, was the Club-s inaugural coach and steered the team through its first two seasons, before returning to the Head Coach role in December 2013 on an interim basis.

Since then the Red and White have become the form side of the competition, winning six games, drawing three and losing two. Melbourne Heart have amassed more points than any other side since van-t Schip took the reins.

Van-t Schip spoke about his delight in being involved with the Club, with a number of exciting opportunities ahead.

“(I-ve) been part of the group and the club since it started so it-s a very special feeling that I-m back, and there is a period with a lot of exciting things to come,” van-t Schip said.

“With the involvement of the new owners, the growth in the Club is secured for a long time now. In that environment I think we build further on the team and the club and it was of course a very important thing for me.

“I can concentrate on my work and the Club and I enjoy living here and I love Melbourne. All those things will make it a little bit easier.

“In life you never know and this new challenge that-s coming up for me it was too big to not accept it. I-m very happy that I-m going to stay for a longer period now.”

While the news of his re-signing is exciting, van-t Schip is still firmly focused on getting a result in this Sunday-s home clash against the Central Coast Mariners.
